My Career at Eyeflow
Hi, I’m Chris Hornak and I joined Eyeflow Internet Marketing as a SEO Developer in March 2008. I currently hold of the title of Director of Operations. Before Eyeflow I held various IT jobs with a focus on web development and worked on furthering my education with a Masters in Business Administration, Bachelors of Business Science and an Associates in Software Applications and Programming.
Through my business education and with my experience on the web, I suddenly found myself obsessed with the art of Search Engine Optimization. Setting up websites was no longer enough, I had to figure how to get my sites better visibility. I noticed that without high rankings in major search engine’s, the work I put into websites was all for nothing. Sure, it was easy to get them to rank for their own brand name, but what about those non-branded keywords that were getting hundreds, or even thousands of searches every month. This epiphany was the start of my passionate career in the field of internet marketing. Since then I haven’t stopped.
The Pittsburgh SEO Group
In 2008 I started the Pittsburgh SEO Group, with the sole purpose of meeting others in Pittsburgh who shared my passion as well as an opportunity to teach others the value of SEO. Since then the Pittsburgh SEO Group has put on presentations covering various topics including website optimization, keyword research, link building, social media and more. The group currently has over a hundred members and shows no signs of stopping.
Creating an SEO Tool
During my time at Eyeflow as a Project Manager in 2009 I noticed I spent too much of my time creating SEO proposals. I was going from one SEO tool to the next, pulling out the information I needed. One day I thought to myself ”Would’t it be great if I had one tool that gathered all this data for me?”. That’s when I started working with our developers on the online application now known as SEOzio. After months of work, the tool got to the point where it was exactly what I needed and the rest of Eyeflow started using it for many other situations. It didn’t take much time to realize that other’s would benefit from this tool as well. We made it public in 2010 and it now gets thousands of visits a month. We have bigger plans for SEOzio in the near future and I can’t wait to share them with you.
