No Budget SEO Experiment

Lastnight I was reading “Crush it” by Gary Vaynerchuk, who’s known for using social media to grow his brand and wine library tv. While I was reading it I came to a section where he was talking about choosing a blog platform. The two he really focused on was wordpress, which was no surprise, and tubmlr, which was a surprise. He mentioned that with tumblr you could use your own domain and tumblr would host it for free.

I quickly went to my computer and setup a tumblr account. It was easy to use and took very little time to get started. I then asked myself “could I use this to quickly setup a search engine friendly website with no budget.

After a quick search I found that dot.tk allows you to register a free domain with no ads and found that weebly.com allowed you to make a more flexable website. Tumblr is great but it seemed to be aimed at blogging and social media rather than a static website for businesses.

This is what got me to setup what I’m calling the weebly seo experiment. Visit the website for the latest updates.

New Year and New Pittsburgh SEO Group

At this Friday’s Pittsburgh SEO Group meeting I’ll be leading a group discussion on Recent Google Updates including: real-time search, personalized search for everyone and the New 3 Panel Google Design. We’ve been talking about these google updates around the office over the past month, especially the real-time search. It will be really great to get input from other Pittsburgh professionals.
